When Loving the Enemy Changes Everything!

Wolf shifter Sorcha is imprisoned deep within a hidden vampire stronghold, where her unlikely connection with two of her guards changes everything. Quillan, the mysterious head guard, and Bannon, his fiercely protective and silent companion, gradually become more than enemies—and Sorcha finds herself falling for two vampires she should never love.

When a dangerous escape offers Sorcha a chance at freedom, loyalty and sacrifice leave the three separated. Reunited with her brothers but condemned for loving the enemy, Sorcha must decide how much she is willing to risk to bring them together again. With secrets threatening their future and enemies closing in, rescuing the man she loves may prove even more dangerous than escaping the vampires in the first place.

Author K.A. Finn keeps the storyline flowing smoothly and held my interest throughout. There are plenty of twists and turns, and several caught me by surprise, which always makes a story more enjoyable for me. The character development is strong, with each character having a distinct personality. Their interactions feel authentic, and the dialogue fits both the characters and the situations they find themselves in. It also keeps the story moving while allowing the personalities, relationships, and emotions of the characters to come through naturally.

I especially enjoyed the connections between the vampires and werewolves. Given their history and the distrust between them, watching those relationships develop added an intriguing element to the story. K.A. Finn does a great job of bringing together two groups that are supposed to be enemies while making the growing relationships between them feel believable. Add in the romance, danger, loyalty, and unexpected twists, and this was a story that easily held my attention.

Narrator Julian Franklin delivers an excellent performance, giving each character a unique and recognizable voice while keeping the large cast easy to follow. His delivery is solid, with a smooth cadence that enhances the listening experience without distracting from the story.

Franklin also does an excellent job of conveying the right emotions, whether fear, tension, affection, anger, or uncertainty. His ability to shift naturally between characters and emotions brings their interactions to life and adds another layer to the story.

With forbidden romance, unexpected alliances, plenty of danger, and more than a few surprises along the way, this was an enjoyable addition to the series. I especially liked watching relationships develop between characters who had every reason to consider one another enemies. K.A. Finn gives the listener a story worth becoming invested in, while Julian Franklin’s strong performance brings the characters and their emotions to life. I look forward to seeing where the story goes next.
