An 80’s B-Slasher with an “Endeering” Twist!

The Shaman Weredeer, Jane Doe is spreading herself a tad bit thin nowadays.  Being Shaman of Bright Falls doesn’t take care of the bills or much of anything else, so she takes Lucien up on his offer to be security for his new venture into B-Slasher Movies with a heavy focus on supernatural stars!  CT Phipps and Michael Suttkus, the authors, bring in several other characters from several series which adds to the fun!  Jane and the gang face some of the deadliest 80’s movie monsters head-on with some delightful puns and gore.

CT Phipps and Michael Suttku are consistent with their character’s development and personalities, giving them pun and pop culture references peppering their dialog.  I honestly do not know how Arielle DeLisle can narrate without breaking out in laughter or groans from some of the puns.  DeLisle delivers a strong, smooth performance giving each character a unique voice that matches their personality and role in the story.  She keeps the pace steady and the consistency of the voices accurate.

I enjoy Phipps's and Suttkus’s books specifically because of the pop culture references and the way the dialog evolves.  I love the introspective dialog that the main characters have with themselves.

This is an excellent series with strong characters and plots with twists and turns that one does not necessarily anticipate.  Fluid and easy to follow, this is a series that continually brings in characters from his other books successfully.  While I normally don’t mention the cover, the artwork for this cover is perfect!
